Riverside - Rural Northumberland development recognised for excellence
Tuesday 17th of May 2016
The development won the Best Affordable Housing Scheme (Small) award at last night’s Housing Excellence Awards. The award recognises the superb design quality of Simmonds Court.
Built for Riverside by Keepmoat Regeneration, Simmonds Court is a stunning rural development of fourteen, two and three bedroom houses and was funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) as part of the National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP).
The Housing Excellence Awards highlights and rewards those who are leading the way in the social housing sector. The event has grown from strength to strength over the years, with ever increasing audiences and a consistently high calibre of nominations.
Claire O’Shea, Riverside’s Project Supervisor accepted the award and said “We are delighted that Simmonds Court has been recognised by the Housing Excellence Awards. Building in rural areas does bring its own unique challenges and can be difficult to deliver. So I am extremely proud that Riverside, Keepmoat Regeneration and the project team have worked collaboratively, with the support of the local community and Northumberland County Council to deliver a fantastic scheme which we hope will sustain the village and local community well in to the future”
Karen Anderson from the Homes and Communities Agency added “It is great news that Riverside has won a Housing Excellence award for its scheme in Chollerford. These affordable family homes are crucial in providing choice for people on lower incomes in a beautiful rural area. I am sure the new tenants will settle into the community very quickly and love living here.”
