Give us a Chance (GUAC) north regional event

On Friday 1st February Tpas CEO Jenny spoke at the Give us a Chance (GUAC) north regional event hosted By Plus Dane (also Tpas members!)
GUAC is the leading consortium of social landlords who are rising to the challenge of helping people into work. Their mission is to transform lives by enabling housing providers to support people into employment.
Creating long-term and genuinely sustainable employment opportunities for social housing residents is vital in order to help residents sustain their own tenancies, whilst also making a crucial contribution to cutting the welfare bill. GUAC works in partnership with a range of stakeholders to build influence around the housing and employment agenda, on behalf of their members.
Given that work that Tpas do and the fact that many GUAC members are also Tpas members, it felt a natural fit to form closer links between the two organisations and see what we can do to support and amplify each other.

“The event was really informative and a pleasure to attend and speak at. One of the presentations that blew me away was from Bolton at Home – hey also Tpas members!
Tony and Cassie from BaH talked about their UCAN community centres and also their fabulous initiative – Working Wardrobe. What a totally inspirational project this is. Check out the presentation they gave which will give you a feel for what its all about. I loved it!”

It's a nationwide competition looking for stories of how social housing tenants have been helped into work, or progressed in work, with the support the social housing sector. Social housing tenants and social housing providers can both enter the competition by submitting a short video or case study on twitter, and using the #CommunitiesthatWork hashtag and tagging @GUACJobs.
