Tpas National Tenant Conference 2023 - What you missed!
Thursday 20th of July 2023
What did you miss at this year's Tpas National Tenant Conference? Let Jenny Osbourne, Tpas Chief Executive, talk you through all the happenings at this year's conference:
And what did some of our delegates enjoy most about this year's conference? Find out in this video:
We have also been sent some fantastic feedback from delegates who attended the conference from Sovereign Housing Group. Their comments are below:
5 of Sovereign’s engaged residents attended the National Tenant TPAS Conference and for most of them it was their first time. They all had an amazing experience and can’t wait to put some of the learning into practice, and keep improving our engagement offer to residents.
Angie, the newest member of our Scrutiny Coordination Group, said: “It was my first time at the TPAS conference, and I really enjoyed it, meeting new people, sharing experiences and meeting old acquaintances! It was great to look at how other organisations run their resident input and see if we can make a few changes to make ours work even better!”
Sam, a member of our Resident Board Partnership, particularly enjoyed the update by Kate Dodsworth on consumer regulation. Her key takeaways from the conversation were to ensure we are getting communication right, with residents, with staff and with the other organisations we are working with. As well as ensuring we are educating staff and residents about what is important – whether that be how to support management of a home, what tenant’s rights are, or how to learn and grow as teams and an organisation.
They are very much looking forward to next year!
As well as feedback from Marie Porter of Phoenix Housing Academy, one of our sponsors at the event:
The event was well run and I met numerous involved tenants (majority in the area of scrutiny) who were passionate about the extremely important role they play in the social housing sector - (investigating and reporting on various areas in their respective organisations).
The wide selection of workshops were both informative and thought provoking on the issues affecting residents today.
Richard Blakeway (Housing Ombudsman) was the keynote speaker on Day 1 and gave an honest insight into what they have to deal with and how we can help them in return
Thoroughly enjoyed the conference.
